Thatch Away SUPA-SYSTEM Cassettes

Cassette Details

Verticutter Cassette

Removes 20 times more thatch than any standard verticutter - all with no clean up!

  • Usual Working Depth: 0-1/8" (0-3mm)
  • Maximum working Depth: ¼" (6mm)
  • Blade Spacing: 3/8" (10mm)
  • Blade Type: Stainless Steel with eleven 1/16" (1.5mm) wide Tungsten Carbide tips. Patented suction fan spacers between each blade provide unmatched debris collection.
  • Purpose: Regular removal of thatch, lifting of horizontal growth and grooming of turf, results in a finer cut and a faster, firmer playing surface.
  • Turfline's Recommended Frequency: Every week during spring and fall, monthly during summer. We suggest setting the depth to zero if using when Poa Annua is flowering.

Scarifier Cassette

Used for periodic linear aerification. This unit is an ideal treatment to compliment regular use of the verticutting cassettes for reducing thatch and increasing firmness of greens.

  • Usual Working Depth: 5/16-3/8" (8-10mm)
  • Maximum Working Depth: 3/8" (10mm)
  • Blade Spacing: 1 ½" (40mm) in accordance with US PGA agronomists recommendations
  • Blade Type: Spring Steel with five 1/16" (1.5mm) wide Tungsten Carbide tips. Blade spacers have integral bushes to sweep up the debris as it is removed.
  • Purpose: As a supplement to regular use of the Verticutter Cassettes, to remove large amounts of thatch and open up the surface to allow entry of air and topdressing which simulates microbial activity and further breaks down the thatch. Always pressure wash grass deflectors clean after use, with cold water.
  • Turfline's Recommended Frequency: Two to six times per year providing the turf is growing strongly to ensure quick recovery. Not recommended in early spring. Never double-cut with the scarifiers.

Groomer (Poa Buster) Cassette

Used to reduce and refine grasses, remove lateral growth, and promote vertical growth. Using the Groomer will result in faster, smoother, and finer textured putting surfaces.

  • Usual Working Depth: 0-3/32" (2mm) Adjust depth downwards with caution. Set a shallower working depth if the surface is soft. The blades should only work in the leave area of the turf, never in the root zone.
  • Maximum Working Depth: 3/32" (2mm)
  • Blade Spacing: 3/8" (10mm) but blade tips are offset to cut at ¼" (5mm). Patented suction fan spacers are fitted between blades to vacuum up the cuttings.
  • Blade Type: Spring Steel with two 1/25" wide Tungsten Carbide tips.
  • Purpose: To thin out and refine coarse broad leaved grasses such as Poa Annua and remove their seed heads. This results in finer textured, faster putting surface and reduces the bumpiness caused by flowering Poa Annua.
  • Turfline's Recommended Frequency: Weekly when Poa Annua is in flower. To remove Poa Annua seedheads avoid mowing for one or tow days beforehand, then use these cassettes in the afternoon when the seedheads are in full flower. Skip verticutting on the weeks you use the Groomer Cassettes.

Deep Slicer Cassette

Creates deep slits in the green to allow gas exchange and stimulate root growth. Provides maximum air/water/nutrient absorption. This is done without the removal of material and with NO disturbance to ball roll.

  • Usual Working Depth: ¾" (20mm)
  • Maximum working Depth: ¾" (20mm)
  • Blade Spacing: 1 ½" (40mm)
  • Blade Type: Round conrnered triangular blades with sharpened edges, 3/100" (.7mm) thick.
  • Purpose: To create deep slits in the greens to allow gas exchange and simulate root growth, without removing any material or causing any surface disturbance.
  • Turfline's Recommended Frequency: Every month or even every two months, provided the surface is not in danger of drying out.

Greens Spiker Cassette

Punctures the surface canopy on the greens to allow air and water entry and reduce susceptibility to dry path. Ideal for preparing your greens for overseeding.

  • Usual Working Depth: ¾" (20mm)
  • Maximum working Depth: ½-1" (25mm) if ground conditions are soft enough
  • Blade Spacing: 2 3/8" (60mm), giving 344 holes per square yard (400 holes per square meter)
  • Blade Type: Hardened Steel Spikes 1 ¼" (32mm) long.
  • Purpose: To penetrate through the surface mat on greens to allow air and water entry, reducing susceptibly to dry patch. Round holes minimize risk of cracking in dry weather. Ideal for preparing surface for overseeding. Do not use when Poa Annua is flowering as it will provide a medium for the seed to germinate in.
  • Turfline's Recommended Frequency: As often as time will allow. For even more intense coverage, go over the green several times in different directions. Do not use when Poa Annua is flowering.

Star Slitter Cassette

Used to aerate the surface of the green without disruption and prevent sealing caused by traffic.

  • Usual Working Depth: ½ - ¾ "(20mm)
  • Maximum working Depth: 1" (25mm), if conditions are soft enough
  • Blade Spacing: 1 ½" (40mm)
  • Blade Type: 7 point hardened steel blade
  • Purpose: To aerate the surface of the green without disrupting it, thus preventing it to become sealed by foot traffic and summer dust.
  • Turfline's Recommended Frequency: As often as required, at any time of the year that greens are able to take a triplex.

Rotary Brush Cassette

Use this brush to give your greens a light grooming or to remove dew, debris (pine needles, acorns, leaves, worm cast,…), or excess topdressing.

  • Height Setting: Bristle tips should just lightly skim the very top of the Turfline
  • Bristle Types: Soft (Black) and Firm (Blue)
  • Purpose: Use the soft black brushes to remove dew and surface debris. Use the firm blue brushes to groom the turf, to collect final remaining debris after scarifiying or hollowing coring, and to remove Poa Annua seeds. Always pressure wash grass deflectors clean with cold water after use.
  • Turfline's Recommended Frequency: Use as needed. Note: Never stop on a green with brushes rotating - this will burn the turf.

Topdressing Brush Cassette

This brush will gently disperse your light topdressing into the turf canopy. Adjustable wheels will allow you to vary downward pressure and obtain maximum results.

  • Adjustment: The brushes run on their own four wheels and the bristles should be adjusted down until they are skimming the turf. Wash off thoroughly with cold water after each use.
  • Purpose: To quickly brush in topdressings taking advantage of the triplex's lightweight and maneuverability, this works great on tight greens. The individual brush units are ideal for evenly dispersing topdressing on undulating greens.
